    Preparing for Project Reality 1.6

PRTA is preparing: The Release of Project Reality version 1.6 (WW2)

World War 2! New Vehicles, maps, and factions. A refreshed take on the medic role with dragging, and lots of other goodies and quality improvements to our favorite game. So why do we need any preparation? There are so many new players that will be coming in, and old that returns that we need to have a serious change in the way this community behaves. With the steady decline of numbers over weeks and months, the PRTA Staff has taken some time to review the reasons why people are leaving.

    PRTA Admin Team Objectives

Dear members, leaders, clans, staff, and players in PRTA
As you know 1.6 was recently announced by the developers, and it is right around the corner. If you have been living under a tree
Here is the link to that announcement: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149477

    A large influx of players
As you probably can imagine, this update will attract a lot of players. We are going to see upwards of 700 players concurrently playing Project Reality. The COVID-19 quarantines and general shut down will also push this number up as we have seen recently in the server browser.

To ensure we are properly prepared, and remembering the random servers that got seeded during the 1.0 release, without any admin coverage, we are planning to start up 3 additional PRTA servers. We have planned to spread our admin team between the servers, and to some degree that will also split the dedicated player base and clans out too. This is where you come in.

We need to prepare for more new players, more players testing things out and players needing help. We will most likely also need help ensuring the servers are administred. So during the immediate time after the 1.6 release, we will plan to loosen the punishment for asset wasting, teamkilling, not having a microphone and other issues that most likely will happen right after a release.

We will also need your hand in training these new players, spreading your dedicated squad leaders to lead public players more, and spending more time preparing players for this game.

If you are up for helping us please consider signing up for an admin position:

We ask that every clan leader considers taking their clan to any of the servers we have, and ensuring the teams are balanced along with the other veteran players on the server.

    Admin teams objective
We've started working on a new general approach to managing the server. With the 2 primary objectives being:
    • Seed the server
    • Keep it populated.
As you can imagine these seem obvious, but they come with certain sub-goals. Seeding the server needs dedicated people willing to turn their PC on early in the day to get the server going. And Keeping it populating includes good relations with the player base, balanced teams and fair enforcing of the rules.

We also need to start working on reducing the amount of toxicity on the server to a minimum. That includes yelling at people, bullying, trolling and blocking players from playing with you.

We could really use your help with the above!

Amongst the things, we tried enforcing recently was not permitting taunting, which quickly turned into a meme and was an ineffective way of punishing negative behavior. But rest assured we will be punishing the above listed negative behavior.

The community in PR is as important as the game itself since game mechanics are based on players and their ability to cooperate. For new players, the PR community might be seen as a very hermetic group with no easy entry where everyone shit talks to everyone.

Keep toxicity to a minimum and outside of the public view.

We have also created this thread:

We would appreciate your calling out anyone you consider has done something commendable or you generally like their playstyle and effort in-game in that thread.

PRTA PR Admin Team 1.6 Release Objectives
    • Work on ensuring players return to the server daily, and ensure that people don't get an excuse to uninstall PR or stop playing it.
    • Give people the opportunity to call out skilled players, good squad leaders, and write up nice experiences on the server.
As you can see above, we should all be less negative. There is always banter to be had on PRTA, and on any server in PR, but seemingly it gets too negative and creates a trend. We've investigated our new player numbers and recurring players, and we get around 2000 unique new nicknames each month, and that trend was before March. That's a lot of new players, assuming they are all legitimate players and not old players trying to evade bans or similar.

    Teamwork makes the dream work
We want to ask of you all. Consider opening up your recruitment for 1.6 and grow your clan. Or encourage good Squad Leaders to start their own. If you grow enough, you could start your own server!

What other things can we do to improve the community in preparation for 1.6? Please give serious responses.

Another thing I want to encourage you to do, and really look for an opportunity to do is:

    • Find someone to Compliment each round, preferably several players.
    • Seek out new players and fight over who can help them
    • Ask another squad how you can help them

I know you have all been waiting patiently for 1.6, and you just can't wait to jump in and test all the new toys, maps, and features that lie in store for you. Please consider taking a step back and letting a new player try it first, you have played this game for probably more than 1 year, some of you 5, and quite a few of you 10. You aren't going anywhere, please help us out.

    So to sum up: (TLDR)
    - Be nice to new players
    - Spread the clans out to various PRTA servers
    - Consider applying for a PRTA admin position.
    - Stop toxicity
    - Give people compliments
    - Lead newbie squads.

The PRTA admin team is responsible for enforcing the rules on the server, and we do our best to balancing and creating a nice atmosphere. We are not perfect, quite the contrary, this is an online gaming community and we have people from multiple cultures all over the world assisting us.

We ask that you too help us, improving the community, getting new players hooked on Project Reality, and growing our numbers!

Anyone who says Project Reality is a dead game should never become a doctor!

La-9 is ready, locked and loaded.

Also, I am personally 100% behind the idea of curbing toxicity and being more supportive of new players.
Better for everyone, before, now and always.
