    Community Update

    PRTA - Moving Forward

    Dear Community,

This past month has seen us enter a new phase of management. With this change comes new possibilities, fresh ideas and unique challenges. A number of significant adjustments have been made to our personnel, practice and policy; with the best interests of the community in mind. It is our hope that these changes will help nurture and grow the community as we move forwards into a new era.

Please take the time to read, digest and enjoy these changes. Any Feedback would greatly be appreciated in the relevant Feedback threads in the forum.

    Staff Changes

The PRTA Management has undergone a significant restructure and has enabled us to develop our internal applications to improve effectiveness and make running servers easier.

In terms of the administrative team, the roster will now be made public for all to view. This is in concordance with the re-enabling of the !admins command across PR. We believe that the general community has the right to know who the administrative team is, for transparency and ease of use. It can be found here.

Inactive, non-engaged admins have been demoted from the roster, and a number of dedicated Junior Administrators promoted to Resident Administrators. Recruitment will continue with renewed vigour, and any members of the community interested in joining the team are encouraged to file an application. Found here.

Over the past couple of months we have unfortunately lost some integral members to our management and administration teams. We would like to thank those who have served here for all their hard work over the years and we wish them good fortune in the future, we hope to see them on the battlefield soon!

We are proud to announce the beginning the official trial of Discord as our primary communications hub. It combines the services previously provided by TeamSpeak and Slack: there are text channels for discussion, reporting, help and advice. There are voice channels: for public use, for community units and for administrative help. There are also a number of fun and helpful bots embedded into the shard, for the enjoyment of all.

The PRTA server can be found here:

The Slack and TeamSpeak servers remain partially usable during the trial, and any feedback is appreciated. It is worth mentioning that one of the major advantages of Discord is that it's free - TeamSpeak currently costs the community a lot of resources for a service provided by Discord at zero cost and in the opinion of most, at a much better quality.

Following this announcement Teamspeak and Slack are stripped to bare minimum in order to promote activity on Discord. In less than a week of making our Discord known to the public it is currently sat at active 75 members. Many people have been enjoying the casual use of the bots and the easily available text and voice communications across all possible platforms!

Feedback is greatly appreciated during the trial. Leave your feedback about our Discord trial here.

Project Reality - Modern Conflict Server

Some significant changes have been made to our primary Project Reality server:
    1. The Legacy Operations server has been disabled in order to promote all activity into one server, however this does not mean that we are done with it, it is our plan to reintegrate it back into the community and to run regular events with the map packs that were available on this server.
    2. Map-voting has been re-enabled by popular demand. Maps will now be selected through democratic process if possible. This has two purposes: it reduces the workload of the administrative team, and also means the players get a say into what maps they are playing.
    3. Falklands and Vietnam maps have been returned to the rotation. So to has Jabal al-Burj and other previously 'blacklisted' maps. This is an exciting change, and the future of the 'Legacy Operations' server will be discussed in the near future.
    4. The administration handbook has been updated, and the server rules are to undergo a formal review and revision. This will include public discussion and feedback.
    5. Many ongoing processes such as admin/player/server reports that are made on our forum has been changed so that they are now public, if you have an issue with the server or an individual on the server then please make a report on our website. We will try our hardest to resolve your issue and if it's not resolved in what you feel in a timely manner then feel free to prod us in that thread.
    6. We are constantly trying to make improvements in this area for the better of the community and the admin team. Due to a history of abuse in some of these areas we are take a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of volunteer staff here at PRTA and will be under no obligation to resolve issues if people are found to abusing staff.

A number of inactive/'dead'/non-contributing units have been removed from the community roster. New units are welcome to join the community, and current unit leaders are encouraged to increase recruitment efforts.

Our aim is to make PRTA the place to want to go to house your unit. If you're an aspiring unit or just an individual and you are looking to make some new, life-long friends then this is the place to be!

    Hardcore Teamwork Nights

'New addition to the PRTA's One-Life events is HT Nights! Reminiscent of the good old days of PR, the pace is slower and the action further apart, putting continuous action on the backseat and bringing forth a strategic and tactical gameplay. A perfect way to play a vast array of maps for the whole evening with the emotional rollercoaster PR can be and not being confined to just one round per event.'

Please see here for further information

The forums are to undergo a significant level of reorganisation, streamlining and reformatting in the (hopefully) not so distant future. Our aim with this is to make using the service as easy and familiar as possible, which the think the current layout is not achieving that. Your feedback on this is really important to us and we'd love to hear your opinion on it!

    Recent Donations

We would like to thank the gratuity of all those listed below, if it wasn't for these people the bills might not have been paid and we might not have been here right now.
Thank you all, you have made running PRTA a reality.

PRTA is a volunteer service and all of what you see here is free; our administrators are unpaid and the management also. In order to thrive we are kindly asking your hand in helping shape our beloved community. You may not have the time or patience to contribute in other capacities but making a small contribution goes a long way to help pay the bills to keep our services up and running at 24/7 with minimal downtime.

It is our hope that the community finds these changes exciting - it is our mission to continually open up new possibilities and help preserve, and nurture PRTA into the community we wish it to be. We are openly asking for all feedback that anyone has and encourage everyone to do so.

We look forward to the future and hope to see you all there.

Modzzter your comments in game, to me and I don't know which other admins, didn't go amiss especially during previous months where these sort of changes were very much a work in progress. Hopefully you enjoy the changes and feel like the same maps aren't constantly in rotation as it is just as much a grind for you as it is for an admin just signing into the server to see the same maps being played daily.
