    Role title: Lead Coder
    Reports to: Technical Department Head
    Responsible for: Creating/maintaining software, task division & assignment, programmer performance/activity monitoring.
    Purpose of post: To lead the software development team.
    Contacts (who will they deal with): Technical department head, sysadmins, operations, HRM, project stakeholders.
    Major duties:

    • Project management.
    • Team leadership.
    • Active role in recruitment.
    • QA by automated testing.
    Person specification:
    Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Qualities needed to perform the task:
    • Competent in at least 2 of: Python, C/C++, PHP, javascript, SQL & data modelling, bash.
    • Sufficient understanding of software architecture to be able to break down large tasks into independent components.
    • Good understanding of VCS (particularly Git).
    • Good understanding of CI.
    • Good understanding of software testing strategies.
    • Working knowledge of agile software development.
    • Ability to monitor programmer activity and identify inactive people.
    Competency Framework:
    Work-related behaviour which is necessary:
    • Writes well-tested code.
    • Regularly commits incremental changes.
    • Ability to motivate programmers.
