Forum update

Dear community,

We have upgraded our forum software XenForo. Nothing dramatic per se, but first of all some new features in XenForo:

And just as a reminder, some new features in the old version:
Besides XF upgrade, we decided to do as well some fixes to UI and add a tad of new functionality in one fell swoop:
• Partly due to limitation in formatting options, we changed the way Project Reality and Squad announcements are published on our News forum and Home page. They are now short "snippets" to give an idea of the content of each announcement and most likely you'll be able to decide if you are interested in the topic, if you are, you can just hit the "Read more..." link which will take you directly to source so you can read the original as it was meant to be seen. We find that also more sportsmanlike towards the site owners.
• News on the Home page have a pin now actually indicating a sticky post and we have already before this upgrade deployed the "sticky" feature so topical posts like PRTA announcements will be easier to spot and we can keep them on top of the stack. That's quite essential for e.g. Event announcements. Earlier we didn't use the sticky feature for some strange reason, and XenPorta put the "pin" in all posts (don't ask me why, had to stab XenPorta code a bit to make it behave 8-|). We also added a nice big date under the news topic so that identifying a new post would be easier.
• The Public forum went through some restructuring: discussion forums are now all under category Discussion to reduce top-level nodes and there's also now a dedicated Squad discussion forum and all (3) old related threads we found have been moved there, so start babbling folks!
• We added a Servers page to Public Forum for you to quickly see the status of servers (player count, server up/down) and some info. The page is also in forum top navigation bar and supplements the sidebar block if one misses it.
• The style has not been changed per se, but a good bunch of fixes to small anomalies has been made, and some changes for the sake of uniformity of the style. Several fixes and improvements have been made to responsive styling to make the user experience better in mobile devices.
• All social media integrations/logins work as well now with the new XenForo version supporting the latest API versions.
• A Privacy Policy is now present as well with some new XenForo features ensuring we comply even better than required of a non-profit association with GDPR. We strongly suggest you take a look at the page, and as well Forum Terms and Conditions of Use as you are required to do both before using the forum.
If you happen to spot any anomalies or plain good ol' bugs, please post to this thread, the old chap "fixing things broken by someone™" will take a look at them hopefully anytime soon... but only after he has eaten his dinner and slept a bit.

We hope you will enjoy your stay on our forum like before, hopefully even better,

PRTA Comms and Sysadmin teams

It's bee there for years now  Moreover, when you close it once it won't come back anymore (unless you use a different browser/device).

It can't be removed, it's Tapatalk, it's a weird company and has weird policies and methods. And i still wouldn't remove Tapatalk support for good as people still use it.

A small thing the title of the pages on any user page isn't getting generated properly.
Look at the example bellow. Great work on the website update btw

HTML:
1.
<a href="members/wicca.2/" class="username"><span class="style3">Wicca</span></a> | PRTA - Project Reality Teamwork Alliance

Cheers m8. Anyroad, i don't quite see what you mean. Page source in Chrome shows me:
Code (Text):
1.
Wicca | PRTA - Project Reality Teamwork Alliance

If you're refferring to e.g. "<", those are HTML entities to be able to show characters that are reserved in HTML for e.g. tags: ,https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_entities.asp

I don't see on actual page anything peculiar, not is the page title even shown on the page. Except for a tad of extra empty space above Name (link) which is rich user name i.e. showing the color of the user group. I have tried to reduce it, but have not found a way despite looking over the style settings and templates for some hours.

So if i'm stupid again, please enlighten me what is the actual problem.

Oh, you mean the tab text, which shows the HTML page
content:

upload_2019-11-3_20-11-43.png

That's a kinda bug yeah. And i really have no clue how to do anything for that. I suppose the
can't show the HTML code inside the tag. Only text.

I see the same occurring on mane sites, e.g. https://www.flatpanels.dk (the first i happened to spot among my 136 tabs roflmao.

No clue how Chrome handles it had some computer problems for over a week so don't have it on my pc anymore but I imagine it would be the same.

The title element affects the title bar of the browser the above is how it shows in Firefox something similar in IE. To be fair the same issue might have existed on the old version but I have a hard time believing I would have never spotted that.

So many tabs I thought I was tab addicted

HTML:
1.
Contact! | PRTA - Project Reality Teamwork Alliance

I am pretty sure although not 100% that you can't use html in the title tag or I guess you can but then it will just be printed as is.

The Contact page has the above as the title. I sort of think the wrong var is put into the tag instead of the username which I am guessing it should be. The current var is a link towards the user page. So fix would be find the template where that is set change the var to the right one or replace it with something generic like Userpage.

The link you shared is fine for me except for it being danish.

So this is about XenForo, i doubt they will implement such feature to page titles.

Nor is js title implementation in wide use in general AFAIK. Moreover, the issue is with one or a couple of pages so it's really not worth substantial effort. Of course i would like to not have such anomaly as i'm a perfectionist.

No clue where you got that but unless I am really confused that isn't talking about the same title.

HTML:
1.
example

The above is the title that your screen is mentioning.

HTML:
1.
example

2.

The above is the one that is the problem. I have to imagine there is some userpage template where that is included could be wrong ofc XenForo isn't something I have experience with outside PRTA.

Well, that was not relevant actually, it's about
tag in tables (but i assume same restriction apply):

https://xenforo.com/community/members/ I assume they use there own software in which case it is working go to any of the members and it will show there name and no html stuff.

If you look at the code that it is currently showing I am now convinced the wrong variable is put inside of the tags in a template somewhere. It is the exact same code as the link that is showing my name to the left of this post.

I do agree with you it isn't the biggest problem it does look rather ugly though :vomit:
So totally understand if it doesn't get fixed or isn't a priority just thought I let you know about it
