    So I've been thinking a lot about what kind of events and tournaments we can do in 2020.

    Obviously we wanted to an IRL event, but that won't happen due to the current Pandemic the world is experiencing. Reference:

    As for other events, Arnoldio is planning a ww2 one-life Event, I can't really say more than that. He is very good at organizing those.

    I've wanted to do a skirmish 8v8 tournament for PRTA for a long time too, although ladder based so people aren't kicked out of it.

    Also, although I haven't really made a thread for it, I was thinking of making some changes to CnC and testing it out in an event or two. Basically, making it the objective for one team to build a fob, and the other to destroy it. Instead of both building and destroying.

    Obviously, Pantyfas will create a Contact Tournament, whenever he thinks it's appropriate.

    I think the format of the Contact Off-Season battles, where you assign teams and commanders flexibly and focussed on balance is something that works very well (if people are on time). Maybe there would be interest in a series of such events, even on normal maps/factions, with some special arrangements in between (WW2, CnC; One-Life, etc..).

    Wicca run a 8v8 skirm and run it like a football tournament.
    One home and away match for each battle( bluefor v opfor opfor v Bluefor)

    And have a table after each weeks battles.
    Fairly simple to run and organise small teams.

    I was thinking of just doing a 10 minute match, switch sides, another 10 minutes.

    Total ticket win = winner of match.

    PRTA Presents: Contact! an 8v8 Skirmish League!

    "8v8" Something which has happened many times in the past hosted by many different communities, PRTA is not presenting a form of 8v8 league. There will be no eliminations, a simple roster ranked by points will be presented. Your team earns points based on their wins. We will present a short 1-month beta-test of this system, before going live with the final competitive system after altering the system, based on your feedback.



    8v8 Tournament

    Sign-up system > Form > Only guest Units/ Units are allowed to join.

    Units/clans may have multiple teams
    Each team is required to maintain the same 8 players plus 4 random reserves.
    Max 4 players not in the same unit/clan per battle.
    Not allowed to switch out more than 1 player out of the core group per week.

    Challenge other clans by form.
    3 Date options with 3-time options.
    Challenger team eliminates maps
    The challenged team has 3 days to respond before they lose.
    The challenged team selects time.
    The challenged team responds with the selected map.

    A pool of maps, with 7 eliminations permissible.

    2. Qwai Skirmish
    3. Burning Sands Skirmish
    4. Basrah Skirmish
    5. Yamalia Skirmish
    6. Beirut Skirmish
    7. Bijar Skirmish
    8. Black Gold Skirmish
    9. Dovre Skirmish
    10. Fallujah Skirmish
    11. Jabal Skirmish
    12. Barracuda Skirmish
    13. Wanda Shan Skirmish
    14. Falcon Skirmish
    The challenger team selects the team they start with.

    2 servers available always. (16 slots) Everyone has admin rights
    Passwords the same unless security issues.

    Standard rules
    Gameplay Rules = no rules. Win by all means.
    Don't kick/ban during the battle, check tracker/BR after the battle.
    No glitching, no taunting, respectful behavior, or auto loss.
    10-minutes per round, 2 rounds (Switch teams).
    Default set it to have 32 tickets per team each round.

    Whichever team has the most tickets at the end of the 2 rounds wins the match.

    All results of each battle are reported by the winning team with a direct link to the thread by form.
    Include BR and Tracker links.
    First iteration, manual thread roster/point system locked thread.
    Wins may be questioned up to 2 weeks after the battle if there were hacking/glitching involved.
    Roster ranking list based on points.
    Winning = 1 point
    Winning over a team with more points = 0.5x Points the opposing team has.
    = points awarded.

    I appreciate how much thought you have put into this, but I think you have over complicated it by a mother load.

    Honestly I think you should pick the map based on the best balance.
    And both teams should play it from both sides. You will.never have the argument of "this map us unbalanced" then.
    The remaining tickets per win go on the roster as points.
    Then you have servers set up permanently on chosen map with all players who entered as admin. So much less work in a far more organised format.
    Just my 2 constructive cents

    1 map for an entire season? Or what do you mean?

    It's already set up for the teams to switch teams.

    If we give the winner the points based on tickets, matches that are forfeit will have a much higher point rate than others, which will skew the win-rate IMO.

    Yep, already planned on making everyone admin.

    Like I say treat it like football.
    Everyone plays a home and away on one map, then you move to the next map.
    When you have the full amount teams entered you will have a maximum a.ount of matches to set eg.
    12 teams enter
    Map you pic is Gaza
    Each team plays each other twice (home and away(bluefor v opforopfor v bluefor))
    So 22 individual rounds in total

    Once everyone has played each other you should have a table.
    You could rather do remaining tickets as points or a system as follows.
    2 points for a win 1 bonus point if you have more than half your tickets remaining.

    Either system works, but I think far more manageable like this.
    You could even download a mini football league app and straight up use that for a simple format which makes itself
