Hello everyone, since the free weekend of the DayZ standalone, we gathered around 12 people which play DayZ regularly. Currently, all servers are either vanilla or all have the same mods on them. When looking for a new server to play on we found 0 which have an interesting non-rp concept or run a configuration which we favored. So we decided to start our own server for the next month and see how it works out - with a unique, not yet seen concept of course. DayZ Standalone Problems and History It is not a secret that this game has had its' past. To give a fast chronological order of events: - Dean hall promised the game of the century - People bought it in early access (scam'd) - For 5 years nothing rly changes, still buggy and clunky - New development team comes in - They scrap everything, write a new engine and a new game on top of it - 1.5 years later the game is so much better than the scam before - Still some bugs but nowhere near whatever that thing was before - Again bohemia pressured them to release it too early, but it is definitely not broken now To list up the current main problems: - Driving cars gets you killed. They are basically the first iteration of 4-wheeled vehicles in the new engine and there was not enough time anymore to finish them. Not a big problem tho, people are used to walking. - Base raiding is wayyyy too easy. It takes you exactly 60 seconds to break into a fully built metal base. Base building is brand new and the focus right now is to see if it works and then balance it later. Server Concept So, since base raiding is so easy you basically get offline raided (offlined) within a week of building a base. Even after successfully defending your base after an attack, they will just come back when you are not online. In other words: You can not always be online and thus not always defend your base; but you have to. And this is what our server concept is relying on. We have reworked that entirely: On our server, base destruction from the outside is only possible sundays, 20:00 to 21:59 UTC (PRT). So instead of being offlined, you now have to defend your base and you are also now actually able to do so. This means that a lot of firefights are actually going to happen around bases now which makes things a lot more interesting. This does not mean, however, that your base is automatically safe. People can still build themselves in and then break out from the inside, with your stuff. So you have to put more work into bases to actually make them 100% offline safe. Additionally, however, we have added some new crafting recipes to make base building a bit easier, as well as increasing the life time of your tools to 400% (lets be honest, DayZ tools are very weak; e.g. you could only chop around 12 trees with a wood axe before). And to tip it all off, we have tweaked the entral economy loot system so that hoarding items in bases do not decrease loot spawns. Links and Requirements To get a full, detailed list of features, you can check out this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mKrEuEWXXKHTJTflLILCZrFwgN7R716pHY7LtIEROE0 The collection of mods required can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1592711546 To find the server, simply search for "PRTA" in the community tab of the server browser. We have not officially launched yet, but it will most likely happen on monday evening. The server is already online, but it might get wiped before monday evening again and we have not yet advertised the server yet (except for this post). If anyone is interested, feel free to join. You can also always join the AREA 94 teamspeak section as we are most likely the unit with most DayZ players. .
