Close Quarter Battles always favors the defender, BGB knew that taking the win: We are awarding 6 points to RIF and 10 points to BGB, bringing the total number of campaign points to: RIF: 45 BGB: 35 Apology Gents, I want to apologize for my lack of tact, skill and care I handled the match with. There were multiple issues with how the battle was handled on my part, namely not kicking players who used allchat, even if we had consistently done this in the past battles. I also want to apologize for joining channels of various players for any reason, I disturbed the peace and focus of the squad in that moment, and for that I apologize. I am genuinely really really sorry, I fucked up. To ensure this doesn't happen again me and Tobi with the approval of the commanders have rewritten a few rules, please read them: 18.104.22.168. The difference between the teams should never be more than 5 players. 22.214.171.124. If one team fields less than 40, the other team can maintain a number of 45 at maximum. 9.6.2. Admins may never join a squads channel during a battle for any reason, unless requested by the commander or supreme commander of that team. The changes have been updated on Contact! Rules page. Here is the admins' perspective of the battle Both teams deployed rapidly to their respective positions, with the French VABs having an advantage. The RIF team sent one squad to challenge the first cap for the enemy team. BGB being the aggressors, thought it was wise to move 4 squads to the first flag of the enemy. This obviously put a pause in the attack for RIF, but it also removed a lot of grunts from the BGB front line. If you can call anything a front line at this point. Spoiler: Deployment The squads lived and died and BGB was eventually removed from their very forward position after some hefty firefights. Finally being able to fight on a solid front line the RIF team, with a vanguard in action, moved their remaining squads up to challenge the Apartments flag. Having the local superiority, RIF quickly captured the flag. Spoiler: Phase 2 As BGB forces still lingered inside the central flag, RIF forces tried pushing them out with a frontal attack and flank on the west of the flag. The western flank was ambushed by a squad moving into the area and it was able to push into the rear flank of the RIF team. As they are committing to this action, RIF is able to clear out the remaining enemies inside apartments and completely secure the flag. Spoiler: Phase 3 A drawn out battle of the apartments and surrounding area begins with CQB fights and flanking actions being the name of the game. The quickness of the battles are shown by seeing multiple squads go down in single skirmishes only to respawn hundreds of meters away for another go. Armor is brought up to the front by both teams, with additional attacks in the rear to try and peel away the defense layers to get access to the other teams flag. Spoiler: Phase 4 With their own flag secured, the RIF team is able to produce a direct route from their Apartments to Hospital. The assault is determined, but the garrison of the flag is hell bent on holding it, and will not yield an inch. Unfortunately for some players no quarter is given in the fight, and players wounded in the is left to bleed out. Spoiler: Phase 5 After repelling the assault on the Hospital, BGB is able to set up a buffer zone between the Hospital flag and the city block west, where they are able to hold the line and give RIF a bloody nose, winning the battle by attrition! Spoiler: Phase 5 Well done both teams, I genuinely enjoy seeing RIF show a more aggressive play, although BGB hasn't lost their touch with probably the most aggressive deployment in this campaign so far. The hyper attacks have also stopped and replaced with more comprehensive support and defense in depth. RIF on the other hand has been able to repel and retake momentum even when the enemy was all up in their face. Impressive work both teams, I wish you both could win, but as you know BGB was victorious this game.
