    Congratulations to RIF for winning the first battle!

    After a long and back breaking battle, RIF against all odds held the line, and won the battle against BGB. This means that BGB will be choosing the faction for the next battle! Here is the result:

    If this was a real battle, based on the number of flags both teams had, and counting 1 neutral flag. We would award 7 campaign points to BGB and 9 to RIF.

    Here is the admins perspective of the battle

    The battle started with Russian forces para-dropping all over the central and eastern part of the map, far away from their main, where they would have to hold out until FOBs or armor could arrive later in the game. Although they accomplished this objective by using buildings to their advantage, they lost 10 men to parachutes being deployed too late or by being shot out of the sky by RIF MG4s and 3s.

    After the initial deployment, in the first phase of the battle, RIF makes a fatal mistake which will haunt them for the rest of the battle. In the fight for their 2nd flag, they spread their squads out too far on the left and right flank. These squads in turn fail to turn back on the rear of BGB troops that are surging into the single RIF squad attacking..

    The second phase sees no major change in the flags, however BGB is consolidating their control of the map on both the right and left flank of their flag. An attempt to cross the front of the RIF main-base is made to get access to theRIF rear, mortars and APC positions fails. However as this phase comes to a close, the RIF team is stuck on the lower right side of their map, with a mountain in their back surrounded by BGB.

    BGB loses their APC to a prepared Puma sitting on the hills behind the RIF front line. A position that will be vital in the coming phase. BGB is in position to prepare an attack, the left flank of RIF is about to get a can of hurt hurled at them. Multiple squads from both teams are concentrated west of the last RIF flag, with both teams mortars and the RIF APCs providing support to their infantry. The results are catastrophic for both teams, and even with great efforts made to flank, suppress and coordinate the firefight both teams leave the bodies of their dead in the cold snow. Wave after wave is decimated and when one team seems to gain the upper hand, they move to far away from their teams support and get destroyed.

    Not much changes in for the next 40 minutes, as BGB repeatedly tries to poke holes at the RIF defense, they are beaten back north, east and west. They even get their own BMP-3 set up in a prime position behind the RIF team. Although that success does not last for long. Finally, after being able to penetrate the south of RIFs defenses, and erect a simple FOB in the process south west, BGB destroys the RIFs mortars and APC support. This coupled with a massive infantry push from the north, and RIFs own team being either dead or wounded proves too much for the defenders. RIF tries to react with an area attack, and throws as many soldiers as possible to the flag to keep it from turning Russian. It remains Neutral..

    Now with both teams clinging to the flag, they throw more and more squads into it. Coordination is thrown out the window for desperation as both teams try to push the other off the flag. The fighting is centered around the Central goods building of the train station which I have now named Pavlov's House. As both teams vie for control of the building, the flag remains neutral and both teams tickets starts to trickle down ending the game in favor of RIF.

    From the Admins perspective, this was a very exciting battle, BGB had map control and the initiative. RIF had to use the mountains, APCs and Mortars to gain an edge in defending. It was very nice to see both teams play to their strengths. It would be interesting if BGB wouldn't have attacked the 2nd RIF flag at all, but allowed RIF to fight in more open battle, it could have been to their advantage. The closeness of the main-base to their flag, as well as the mountains, gave RIF a large advantage. It would also be interesting to see what could have happened if RIF decided to commit more squads directly to their second flag, instead of flanking. Either way a good fight! Well done both teams!

    Suchar updated the files, and as he said a few days ago he has been working on a small update for the tournament mappack. It is mainly bugfixing and some balance - related fixes.

    Changelog:

    Since we had a few people having issues with installing mappack correctly, Tobi prepared a small step-by-step manual on how to install it properly.
    At this point, we do not expect more updates for the tournament mappack.

    Tournament Task Force

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAPPACK INSTALLER

    To make the process of installing the mappack as easy as possible for you folks, we made this little installer for you → https://eu2.prta.co/mappack/Contact_Mappack.exe
    The installer uses the standard path to project reality as default. That path is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2

    If you have installed project reality to a non-standard path on your system, you need to alter it accordingly. It's important however, the last part of your it is "Project Reality BF2". Your pr root directory.

    So, how does it work?
    1. If you already have maps installed with a previous mappack, deinstall them using the deinstaller mentioned below!
    2. Download and double click Contact_Mappack.exe
    3. Confirm using admin rights
    4. Now you are getting asked for the installation path. Again, be sure to double check it ! Then confirm installation clicking 'next'
    5. You'll now get a warning about the path already existing. Ignore that warning and install regardless.
    6. Finish by clicking on 'install'
    The installation is done now and you should check your 'levels' folder for the tournament maps. Standard path to it is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\mods\pr\levels
    The tournament maps are appended with '_ttt'. When scrolling down the folder you should see a few like 'fools_road_ttt'.

    You can deinstall the maps when the tournament has finished by executing 'unins000.exe'. That file should be in your project reality directory.
