Well they already made a pre-preview of it at the beginning of October. So if they actually work on it, it could be quite soon.

    Rome: 1 - ALL dlc
    Medieval II
    Empire
    Shogun I & II
    Rome 2

Enjoyed all of them until I preordered Rome II and on release, it was a bitter disappointment for me. I guess the nostalgia wasn't there and it was pretty damn bad on release. One day I hope to get into Rome II

I think Rome II is pretty fine now. The first hour will be a ball breaker but soon you'll learn to live with your disability

Attilla is the same. With mods it's good, but some of the game mechanics suck balls.

Battles are always pretty fun, but the campaign can be painful. The politics/intrigue/authority aspect is immensely frustrating without mods.

Winning the game? Rich? Powerful? Conquering your neighbours? Winning battle after battle?

Time for a civil revolt, because you're too powerful.

It punishes good gameplay. I hate that.

Thats because when you get too good, it is not fun anymore.

    Yeah, which sucks.

I'm all for throwing unpredictable events into a game to keep it fresh even when you're winning. Stops it becoming just a slog to conquer everyone and win the game without any real challenge.

But the authority thing is a lame way of doing it. Attila had the potential, considering its historical setting, to easily throw up unpredictable events via conquering nomads and unsettled tribes whose actions you can't second-guess. I don't think they made the most of that.

The game is most fun when you play as one of those tribes. But I love city-building and state administration in total war, and I was so excited about the chance to rule Sasanian Persia or Eastern Rome. Both of those experiences is massively disappointing for me.

Its fun until there is another big state that you are just plotting against and waiting for that single moment when you will fuck them up really bad. Just like in Napoleon. I created 6 armies after defeating everybody but Russia. Then I took 6 cities in 1 move..every move. Until I attacked Moscow with 6 armies at once. Glorious days back then.

Have you played Total War: Warhammer? I haven't got it and was never into Warhammer, but have been tempted to give it a try.

Nope, not one bit. Just like you. Never been into that fantasy stuff. At least not like this. The only fantasy thing I can play is Skyrim. I like mythology, but thats it. So historical accuracy is for me utmost important.

Stainless Steel 6.4, or Stainless Steel 6.5 + Byg's Grim Reality if you want a challenge. That kept Medieval 2 relevant to me for about 7 years.
