Hello everyone, myself and some members of Foxtrot have been trying to organise an event for Arma 3 for quite some time yet it has never seen the light of day. However, this time I'm going to try and make it a success. I'm aiming to get more members of PRTA to join in on the fun and try to get an actual event going. Not many of us here have the skill and knowledge to create a mission for Arma with the editor/Zeus... I have managed to cook something up that could be quite fun and organised.

However, before I go into details, I must make a disclaimer: I will not tolerate trolls, minging or any drama if members from other clans join the event and start any shit. They won't be allowed to participate in the event if they do.

Now, onto something less gloomy, the mission that I have created is set with the invasion of Normandy. We are the 101st Airborn and we have taken Carentan and now we must fight to hold the ground we have captured and await reinforcements from the beaches. This will mainly be infantry focused, as Airborn, all we have is small arms, some captured German equipment (including AT guns), light cars and one M3 half-track and we have an arsenal to which we have access to rocket launchers. The mission will take place with three phases. The first phase is outer defences which will compose of fox holes and trenches and we'll hold it for only a short time before falling back. The second phase is more trenches but with AI/MG support and AT. Third, and last, phase will be the town itself, using buildings, sandbags and the HQ (the church) as our last line of defence. If the Church falls and most players dead it's game over... but if we hold it and reinforcements show up it's our win.

Now, onto the mod list, as this is WW2 there are some mods that are needed and some are about 2-3gbs worth.
    CBA_A3
    Faces of War
    CUP Terrains - Core
    IfA3_AIO_LITE
LEN - Weapons pack for IFA3 LITE
    Ares Mod - Achilles Expansion
    ShackTac User Interface
    TFR (Task Force Radio)

Install these before joining the server so we don't waste time and don't add any extra mods as it may restrict you from joining the server.

The event will be taking place on the 30th April, Sunday, at 15:00 PRT (16:00 GMT). This mission may take 30 mins - 1 hour to do so it'll only be short.

If we lack numbers of people who wish to join we will still go ahead with the event even if it's just five people.

Awesome shit so to say DJ_Bob

Best wishes from my side. If only I would own arma3.

Do you think someone of your guys will make a recording of it all? If so, we could even put it on our youtube channel afterwards

    Rock it guys!

I'm not too sure, I think Siltics can record but I'd have to ask him but recording it would be pretty neat. If anyone has the ability to record, who is attending, please say so.

I've been thinking a little more about this and I want your opinions on it. I'm having a difficult time trying to use the editor system for reviving players to no avail, we could use ACE but as this is WW2 gear we are carrying there isn't much room for bandages, morphine etc. on-top of all the ammo we have to hold as well. Or we can use a repsawn ticket system, for example, 5 lives and if all lives are spent you have to spectate. So, what would you guys prefer? We can use ACE for injuries and reviving or have limited respawn tickets for when we die instead of healing?

Also, don't forget to vote on the poll as I need to know how many players are able to join so I can fix player slots.

Nope, not at this point but bob knows that if I am not mistaken.

Currently we simply don't have the time to get into a new game. We are working on a fundamental change of our core server structure and organisation. On top we also are quite busy with RL commitments.
Bob seems to have a server already, though, otherwise this whole thread wouldn't make much sense.

On the longer run however we can definitely have a look into this.

I heard that PRTA might be looking into Arma 3 but I don't need a dedicated server for this, if this a success I'll continue making missions and hosting it with as many people who show interest.
And it won't just be WW2, we'll span from WW2, Vietnam and modern warfare and whatever else is out there.

If you are afraid that your FPS might be low I can remove some useless assets to free up space and this mission will be fighting from distance rather than CQC so hopefully that'll help. But Richard what is your average FPS btw?

An update for those who don't own Arma 3 but might be interested in getting it. There is a Steam sale on right now that makes Arma 3 50% off it's base price: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/arma/
